Water-Resistance of Your Watch
A great number of people expect that a water-resistant timepiece is intended for swimming or diving. In fact, some water resistant timepieces are intended for swimming, while other watches not. Most water resistant timepieces can withstand a very short contact with water, but these cannot be used for swimming and certainly they should not be used for diving.
It is significant to read all markings on the watch thoroughly and to know what these markings mean. The marking “water resistant” or “waterproof” 3 ATM (30 m) means that your timepiece will withstand contact with water, but you must not swim with such a timepiece. The marking “water-resistant” to 5ATM (50 m)” means that you can swim with this timepiece on your wrist, but the wristwatch is not designed for diving. The nicest wristwatches are those with resistance to water to 10ATM (100 m), such timepieces are nice for diving.
Also many people suppose that replica timepieces are highly water-resistant, but this is not true. If you want a watch for diving, you have better select an authentic watch, for instance a Rolex timepiece, but not a Rolex fake timepiece. An imitation Rolex wristwatch is only a copy of a genuine Rolex wristwatch, but it does not have all the functions of the original Rolex watches. It is important to remember, that both fake watches and authentic watches cannot be accepted for refund if being damaged by water.
